Selumetinib dosage and administration: What is the dosage of Selumetinib? The dosage is based on body surface area (BSA). The usual recommended dose is 25 mg per square meter of BSA orally twice daily.
Indications for Selumetinib
For symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas (PN) in pediatric patients aged 2 years and older.
Recommended Dosage of Selumetinib
25 mg/m² (25 mg per square meter of body surface area) twice daily (approximately every 12 hours) until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
Specific Doses Based on Body Surface Area (BSA):
BSA < 0.55 m²: No recommended dose.
BSA 0.55–0.69 m²: 20 mg in the morning and 10 mg in the evening.
BSA 0.7–0.89 m²: 20 mg twice daily.
BSA 0.9–1.09 m²: 25 mg twice daily.
BSA 1.1–1.29 m²: 30 mg twice daily.
BSA 1.3–1.49 m²: 35 mg twice daily.
BSA 1.5–1.69 m²: 40 mg twice daily.
BSA 1.7–1.89 m²: 45 mg twice daily.
BSA ≥ 1.9 m²: 50 mg twice daily.
Important note: Not recommended for patients who cannot swallow capsules.
Important Administration Precautions for Selumetinib
1. Timing of Administration
Take on an empty stomach (do not eat for 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking the dose); swallow capsules whole, do not chew, dissolve, or open.
2. Missed Dose
If it is more than 6 hours until the next scheduled dose, the missed dose may be taken. If it is less than 6 hours, skip the missed dose and do not take a double dose.
3. Vomiting After Dose
Do not take a replacement dose; continue with the next scheduled dose as planned.
