Update: 18 Mar,2026 Source: Bigbear Views: 114

Axitinib is a targeted therapeutic agent for renal cell carcinoma, which has been increasingly widely used in clinical practice in recent years. Developed by Pfizer Inc. of the United States, axitinib was approved by the U.S. FDA on January 27, 2012, and launched in China on April 29, 2015.

Purchase Channels for Axitinib

1. Hospital Pharmacies

Axitinib is a prescription drug and can only be purchased with a prescription issued by a licensed physician.

Patients may visit a qualified hospital for consultation. Oncologists or urologists will assess the suitability of the drug based on the patient’s disease status, prior treatment response, and physical condition. After the physician prescribes the medication, patients can obtain it directly from the hospital pharmacy.

Since axitinib has been included in China’s National Basic Medical Insurance Catalog, eligible patients may receive partial reimbursement. However, medical insurance policies vary by region. Patients are advised to confirm the reimbursement ratio and procedures before purchase.

2. Chain Pharmacies

In addition to hospitals, some large chain pharmacies may also supply axitinib, which can be purchased upon presentation of a valid medical prescription.

When purchasing from a pharmacy, carefully verify the approval number, production batch number, expiration date, and other information on the drug packaging.

3. Online Pharmacy Platforms

E-commerce platforms provide online pharmaceutical services. Patients may purchase axitinib by uploading a prescription or completing an online consultation.

Only legitimate and licensed online pharmacy platforms should be used to avoid purchasing from unregulated sources.

4. Overseas Purchasing

Some patients may obtain various versions of axitinib through overseas channels, either by purchasing abroad in person or via domestic overseas medical service agencies.

Precautions for Purchase

1. Check Drug Labeling and Packaging

Genuine axitinib packaging should clearly display the manufacturer, production date, expiration date, and drug approval number. The authenticity of the approval number can be verified on the official website of the National Medical Products Administration.

2. Beware of Abnormal Pricing

If the price from a certain channel is significantly lower than the market price, it is highly likely to be counterfeit. Do not compromise medication safety for lower costs.
